Ultrasound Patients
You should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing for your ultasound exam.
You may be asked to refrain from eating or drinking anything before your exam.
Always inform your doctor or X-ray
technologist if there is any possibility that you may be pregnant.
INSTRUCTIONS
General Ultrasound
(Vascular/Venus Duplex, Thyroid, Scrotum, Etc.)
No preparation necessary. Allow 30 minutes to an hour for the procedure
Obstetrical and Pelvic
You may eat a regular diet. Patients need to have full bladder for the exam. Drink 48 oz. of water 1.5 hours prior to your exam.
DO NOT EMPTY YOUR BLADDER
Abdominal
Nothing to eat or drink 6 hours prior to your exam. Diabetics, may take medication as normal with water.
Renal
You may eat a regular diet. Patients need to have full bladder for the exam. Drink 48 oz. of water 1.5 hours prior to your exam.
